The Oklahoma City Thunder keep spending big bucks. They just signed Chet Holmgren to a five-year contract extension worth a whopping $250 million.
That comes on the heels of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's record-breaking $290 million super-max contract extension.
Even so, Sam Presti and the defending NBA champions won't stop breaking the bank.
According to a report by Shams Charania of ESPN, the Thunder are now gearing up to lock Jalen Williams with a long-term, big-money contract extension of his own:

OKC just signed Chet for $250M and SGA for $290M. Insane.

"Oklahoma City officials will now move toward locking in All-NBA superstar Jalen Williams, who has momentum in his rookie extension talks," wrote Charania. "The second-youngest team in NBA history to win a championship, the Thunder have now locked in Holmgren and league MVP and Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to long-term maximum extensions."
Williams was the team's second-leading scorer and one of their best defenders. He averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.8 three-pointers on 48% from the floor.
He was an All-Star and was selected for the All-NBA third team and the All-Defense second team.
The new CBA makes it tougher for teams to keep three players with max contracts, but the Thunder have a young roster and several veterans on team-friendly deals, so they can afford to take this risk.
The Thunder still have multiple draft picks to keep adding talent to their roster, not to mention a promising rookie in Nikola Topic, who will make his debut next season after missing his first year with an injury.
Sam Presti and the Thunder are building for the long run, and their championship window will stay wide open for as long as their Big 3 is out there and healthy.
