The Oklahoma City Thunder aim to do what teams before them have failed to do and win back-to-back NBA championships.

After blowing up their team in the 2020s, the Oklahoma City Thunder began an ambitious rebuild. Thanks to the Thunder securing a big haul for Paul George, they had a great starting foundation.

Their huge haul of picks, combined with exciting prospect Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, eventually developed into a star-studded team.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander capped off a brilliant MVP season by leading his team in the playoffs. And after multiple years of contending, the Thunder won the 2025 NBA championship.

Now, they take their championship roster into the upcoming season and try to achieve what hasn’t been done in the NBA since 2018 – repeating as champions.

2025-26 Oklahoma City Thunder projected starting lineup

The Oklahoma City Thunder have not done much to add to their roster. They did draft Thomas Sorber with their first-round pick, but there weren’t any other new additions.

This is what the Thunder’s starting lineup will look like:

Starting Lineup Second Unit
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Alex Caruso
Lu Dort Aaron Wiggins
Jalen Williams Cason Wallace
Chet Holmgren Kenrich Williams
Isaiah Hartenstein Thomas Sorber

While Sorber isn’t likely to get big minutes next season, he is perhaps the best option to bring off the bench without having to stagger Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein’s minutes.

But aside from that, their roster and rotation are likely to remain the same. With Nikola Topic’s impressive Summer League performances, he could factor into the rotation as well.

Oklahoma City Thunder looking to establish a dynasty

The Oklahoma City Thunder are not satisfied with just one championship. They have their eyes on a potential dynasty in the years to come. And to do so, they need to secure their future.

That’s exactly what they did this summer. The Thunder re-signed Gilgeous-Alexander for $285 million, a big reward for his MVP season.

But he wasn’t the only star to get a big payday. Both Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren earned massive contract extensions, solidifying them as the core trio going forward.

Can the Thunder go back-to-back? They do have the best roster in the NBA. But teams like the Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets have put together some juggernaut rosters to combat them.
