Oldest, Youngest Players On NBA Rosters For 2026/27

For a fourth straight fall, Lakers star LeBron James will enter the NBA season as the league’s oldest player.

James will turn 42 before the calendar year is over, making him one of just two active players who are in their 40s. The other is Warriors big man Al Horford, who moves up to second on the list of the NBA’s oldest players following the retirements of three veteran guards, Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry, and Garrett Temple.

Along with Paul, Lowry, and Temple, Jeff Green and Joe Ingles are no longer on NBA rosters. Green remains unsigned, while Ingles headed back to his native Australia this offseason, joining Melbourne United.

As a result, five of the NBA’s seven oldest players from last season aren’t on this year’s list, leaving plenty of room for some new names. Those newcomers include a pair of former Most Valuable Players, with Kevin Durant and James Harden cracking the top 10 for the first time.

Before we share the full list, we should acknowledge that it’s subject to change. Players like Green and Kevin Love would qualify if they find new NBA homes in the coming days or weeks, and there’s at least one player listed below who may no longer be on a roster as of opening night.

For now, here’s the list of the oldest players in the league heading into the 2026/27 NBA season:

  1. LeBron James, Sixers (born 12/30/1984)
  2. Al Horford, Warriors (born 6/3/1986)
  3. James Johnson, Pacers (born 2/20/1987)
    • Note: Johnson is on a non-guaranteed training camp contract.
  4. Mike Conley, Celtics (born 10/11/1987)
  5. Stephen Curry, Warriors (born 3/14/1988)
  6. Brook Lopez, Clippers (born 4/1/1988)
  7. DeAndre Jordan, Pelicans (born 7/21/1988)
  8. Kevin Durant, Rockets (born 9/29/1988)
  9. DeMar DeRozan, Nuggets (born 8/7/1989)
  10. James Harden, Cavaliers (born 8/26/1989)

The Warriors are the only team represented twice on the list of the NBA’s oldest players, and they’ll add a third name if Johnson is waived by the Pacers before the regular season begins, which is likely. Assuming Johnson is removed from this list, Warriors forward Jimmy Butler, the only other active NBA player who was born in the 1980s, would become the new No. 10.

After Butler, the next two oldest players in the NBA are a couple more names very familiar to fans in Golden State — longtime Warriors sharpshooter Klay Thompson, now a member of the Heat, currently ranks 12th among the league’s oldest players, while Warriors forward Draymond Green is right behind him at No. 13.

Here are the 10 youngest players currently on NBA rosters, each of whom was a 2026 draft pick:

  1. Cameron Boozer, Grizzlies (born 7/18/2007)
  • Jayden Quaintance, Spurs (born 7/11/2007)
  • Karim Lopez, Grizzlies (born 4/12/2007)
  • Ebuka Okorie, Pistons (born 4/10/2007)
  • Keaton Wagler, Clippers (born 2/3/2007)
  • Chris Cenac Jr., Celtics (born 2/1/2007)
  • AJ Dybantsa, Wizards (born 1/29/2007)
  • Koa Peat, Suns (born 1/20/2007)
  • Darryn Peterson, Jazz (born 1/17/2007)
  • Kingston Flemings, Hawks (born 1/3/2007)
  • With fewer freshmen declaring for the NBA draft as early entrants due to the benefits of NIL, these are the only 10 players in the league who were born in 2007, and no one will enter opening night as an 18-year-old, like a few players did last season.

Notably, Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg, who was the NBA’s youngest player last season, nearly made this list again. Having been born on December 21, 2006, Flagg comes in at No. 11, making him younger than most of this year’s draft class.

The top three picks in the 2026 draft – Dybantsa, Peterson, and Boozer – all show up on this list, while the Grizzlies are the only team represented twice. Their first-round draft picks – Boozer and Lopez – are two of the league’s three youngest players.
