Los Angeles Clippers president Lawrence Frank and head coach Tyronn Lue offered a ringing endorsement for Bradley Beal when the team made his free agent signing official last Friday afternoon.
“Brad is one of the most talented shooting guards in the NBA,” Frank said about Beal in a press release via ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly. “He is a two-way player and an accomplished three-level scorer who brings additional shooting, ball-handling and creation to the team.”
“Players of this caliber are very rare, and they’re hard to come by,” Lue added. “Brad has been an All-Star. He’s been in a race for the scoring title. He’s been the best player on his team. You can put him in so many different spots, and he’ll find ways to score: out of pick-and-roll, coming off screens, catch-and-shoot.”
Beal’s contract with the Los Angeles Clippers is reportedly worth $11 million for two years with a player option. The three-time NBA All-Star has played 106 of a possible 164 regular season games in his short stint with the Phoenix Suns.
ESPN analysts Tim MacMahon and Tim Bontemps strongly believe the Los Angeles Clippers are a legitimate contender in the Western Conference next season after acquiring Bradley Beal, Brook Lopez, and John Collins.
“James Harden, right now, at this stage of his career, is maybe the best table setter in the NBA. He’s looking to get everybody involved, who just helped Norm Powell have a career year, just helped Ivica Zubac have a career year, and getting a guy like this (Beal) who’s still a big-time efficient scorer, is huge for Harden,” MacMahon explained on The Hoop Collective podcast.
“I think the Los Angeles Clippers have a good chance of being top 2 in the West in the regular season,” Bontemps added.
