'Only Thing on My Mind': Luka Doncic Reveals Two Priorities After Lakers 0-4 Playoffs Loss vs. OKC

The Los Angeles Lakers’ 2025-26 season ended on Monday night as the Oklahoma City Thunder sealed the 4th game 115-110 to register a series win. After a tough season, Luka Doncic, who missed every single playoff game, now has only one thing on his priority list.

The Slovenian has two daughters, Gabriela, and Oliviawho live in Eupore. And, the first thing he wants to do in the preseason is to spend some quality time with both of them.

“First of all, I want to spend time with my daughters — that’s probably the only thing on my mind right now,” Doncic said in the post-match press conference.

The second thing on his priority list is obviously to return to the court.

Doncic averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game before he sustained a hamstring injury on April 2nd.

Luka felt they could ‘compete for the championship’ this season. But it was his and Austin Reaves’s injury that took the momentum away from them.

However, everything became more frustrating for him as a few reports came out saying that he was close to being on the floor when he was not. And, he did not miss the opportunity to clear out the noise.

“I know some people wanted me back, but obviously I wasn’t close to clearing,” he said. “You know, there was some stuff in the media that went out that wasn’t true — nobody of those people saw my MRIs, they know nothing,” he went on to add.

Luka Doncic’s current recovery status

Currently, Luka Doncic is lifting, running, and shooting. However, he is not cleared to make any contact. He will still need a week or two for that.

“I’m doing the lifting, running, and shooting, but I haven’t done contact and those kinds of things. I wasn’t cleared yet. Those things will come in the next week or two, probably.”

As Doncic gets closer to his return, another big question is looming over the Lakers’ management before the next season.

After the end of their season, both LeBron James and Austin Reaves have now become unrestricted free agents.

Doncic had a great camaraderie with both LeBron and Austin. It was ‘an unbelievable experience’ for him to share the court with them. But still, he did not want to make any comments on their return to the franchise in the next season.

“They’re two great players and it was really fun to share the court with them,” he said before answering, “We’ll see. Can tell you nothing,” when he was asked whether the Lakers will be bringing them back or not.

While there are reports of a contract extension for Austin, LeBron’s future is still murkier.
