Pacers Could Move Multiple Players After Tyrese Haliburton Injury

The Indiana Pacers fell short in the NBA Finals, but the team lost more than just the chance at a title. Star guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles and is now expected to be out for the majority of next season.

Haliburton could miss the entire season due to the injury, and this now puts the Pacers in a strange place. Before the injury, it was reported that Indiana could go into the luxury tax to keep the core group together.

Star center Myles Turner will be a free agent, and while he is expected to return, free agency can take some turns along the way. But due to the Haliburton injury, the plans for Indiana could be changed.

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Pacers could look to move some players this offseason.

"The big question on the minds of many in league circles is whether Pacers owner Herb Simon will still go into the luxury tax as initially expected to keep Turner now that his franchise star Haliburton could miss a prolonged period. In addition, teams around the league circled the wagon on the trade availability of Bennedict Mathurin, Obi Toppin, and Jarace Walker this season. Rival teams are expected to circle the wagon again this offseason on those players," Scotto wrote.

Indiana could free up some cap space to sign Turner if they were to move some of these pieces. The Pacers have to make some decisions on players like Mathurin and Aaron Nesmith, both of whom are up for new contracts soon.

But after the success that Indiana saw this year, the team may elect to keep everyone together. The Pacers were just one win from a title, and the front office could view that as something to keep building upon.
