Pacers Pull Two-Way Offer To Enrique Freeman, Adding Taelon Peter

The Indiana Pacers and rookie Taelon Peter have agreed to a two-way contract, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The move fills all three of Indiana’s two-way slots.

That last two-way deal became available after the Pacers reportedly pulled their qualifying offer to forward Enrique Freeman — which sends the Cleveland native and University of Akron product into unrestricted free agency.

Freeman could still return to Indiana on an Exhibit 10 deal or with the G League club, though it remains to be seen. He could end up signing a training camp deal elsewhere as well.

Freeman, 24, is 6-foot-7 and more of a natural center than forward. He appeared in 22 games with the Pacers as a rookie last season, averaging 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds, playing very well when on assignment in the G League.

Along with that, Freeman was excellent in the NBA Summer League earlier this month — as he put up averages of 16.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 blocks while shooting a sizzling 72.5% from the field in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Peter is 6-foot-4 and was the No. 54 overall pick in the draft out of Liberty. He averaged 9.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in Vegas.

Peter, RayJ Dennis and Quenton Jackson now occupy the Pacers’ three two-way spots.
