Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles tendon at the most crucial moment in the NBA Finals. After undergoing surgery, Haliburton has been on the road to recovery to help the Indiana Pacers.

Apart from the championship-winning Oklahoma City Thunder, the Indiana Pacers were the main story. With Tyrese Haliburton as the cornerstone, the Pacers embarked on a magical run on the way to the NBA Finals. They were competitive enough to force a Game 7 against the Thunder.

Unfortunately, Haliburton suffered his Achilles injury early in Game 7, which led to them losing the Finals. Haliburton tried to have his Kobe Bryant moment and attempted to walk, but he was unable to do so.

In the meantime, he is spending his time well, including doing a cameo at a WWE event. The All-Star guard is recovering well, and he provided new updates.

Haliburton is doing well with his recovery

Haliburton has been going about his daily life mostly on a walking scooter or crutches. In recent weeks, he has transitioned to having a walking boot. He will soon be walking normally in shoes, but he is taking his time with his recovery.

It has been rough for the Pacers’ All-Star, considering he could not help his team win the title. At the same time, Haliburton has also struggled to walk due to his injury. Thankfully, he is taking it in stride and remaining positive.

“I have good days and bad days. I think when you look back at the year that was, and how special it was, it means a lot for me,” Haliburton said at his basketball camp in Wisconsin.

“Had a lot of fun and got to grow myself as a player and a person every day. Chase my dream of winning a championship. Obviously, we fell short.”

“I’m dealing with rehab and this right now. When I’m able to get back to 100 percent, the chase continues… It’s been up and down, but I’ve been able to walk without the help of a scooter or a crutch lately.”

The Pacers will be under the radar in the 2025-26 season

The 2025-26 season is shaping up to be an uneventful one for the Pacers. They are dealing with Haliburton’s injury, and they also lost Myles Turner to another team. Haliburton expressed disappointment about Turner’s exit, but he is happy for his now-former teammate.

The rest of the team should be ready to step up and play well. Andrew Nembhard, in particular, is expected to be their starting point guard. He and Bennedict Mathurin form the new Pacers backcourt, according to coach Rick Carlisle. Most people expect Mathurin to take a huge leap due to his new role.

Pascal Siakam is still a top player, so the Pacers should have a go-to option. However, most people expect them not to replicate their 2024-25 run. The 2025-26 campaign for the Pacers could still surprise some people.

They have made a habit of pulling off surprises, so the 2025-26 season could be another one. Haliburton wants that to happen, but he is also excited to contribute when he returns in the 2026-27 season.
