The Pacers are signing Mac McClung to a multi-year contract, his agent Greg Lawrence told Shams Charania of ESPN.
The deal will be non-guaranteed, per Charania.
To create room on the standard roster, Indiana will waive center James Wiseman, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Wiseman’s contract includes a $1 million partial guarantee, meaning the Pacers will carry that figure as a cap hit if he clears waivers, per Keith Smith of Spotrac.
It’s a disappointing turn for Wiseman, the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft. He joined Indiana last summer and impressed in preseason before tearing his left Achilles in the regular season opener.
He re-signed on a two-year deal in July — the second year a team option — and was said to be in excellent shape.
But history repeated itself: Wiseman again played just one game this fall, logging four points and four rebounds in 20 minutes during Saturday’s blowout loss in Memphis.
With four centers already on the roster and several guards injured, Indiana’s move for McClung is more about balance and opportunity.
McClung, 26, is best known for winning three straight NBA Slam Dunk Contests, but he’s been one of the G League’s premier guards the past two seasons.
The 6-foot-2 guard earned All-NBAGL First Team honors in 2024-25 and was the league’s MVP in 2023-24.
Last year with the Osceola Magic, McClung averaged 23.0 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds in 44 games on 48/34/83 shooting splits.
He appeared in just six total NBA games across four franchises since 2021, including two brief outings for Orlando last season.
After a short stint with the Bulls’ G League affiliate this fall, McClung now lands his first standard NBA contract — a long-awaited step for one of basketball’s most electric stories.
McClung has appeared in just six NBA games across four teams since 2021, but his consistent G League production and marketability make him worth a look for a banged-up Indiana squad.
