There are a few times each NBA season when a player has a performance that takes the league and its fans by storm. Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton had one of those moments on Saturday night. Haliburton had arguably one of the most incredible single quarters of basketball in recent memory, pouring in 25 points while dishing out six assists in just one frame.
That combo of scoring and assists is unheard of, to the point that the most assists in a 25-plus point quarter was a four-way tie prior to this, on a list that included Stephen Curry and James Harden.
Most Assists in a 25+ Point Quarter:

6 — Tyrese Haliburton (2023)
4 — Steph Curry (2021)
4 — Trae Young (2020)
4 — James Harden (2019)

Curry and Harden were also joined by Trae Young and D'Angelo Russell with four assists, but Haliburton made a bit of unique history in this sense. And if a player is able to do something on the floor that outshines one of the most special players in the league in Curry, that just sums up how stellar it was.
While Haliburton's overall performance (43 points and 12 assists) was one of the best single-game performances of the season, the Pacers fell at home 125-124 to the Charlotte Hornets. On the final play of the game, Haliburton was guarded by LaMelo Bell, who managed to poke the ball away before the Pacers' budding star was able to get a shot up, resulting in the clock running out.
Still, it was a special night for Haliburton, who placed himself atop some impressive company with his incredible quarter.
