Patrick Beverley was arrested Friday in Texas and charged with assault of a family or household member, per TMZ Sports.
According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a “family violence incident” at a residence involving relatives. Beverley was booked and later posted a $40,000 bond.
“Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well,” Beverley tweeted Friday night.
Beverley’s attorney issued a statement to TMZ, saying the veteran guard has no criminal record and was acting out of concern for his younger sister, who is a minor.
The lawyer added that Beverley arrived home to find her with an 18-year-old man and that the family disputes parts of how the incident has been described.
“We look forward to the opportunity to address that in court,” the statement read.
Per The Athletic’s Jenna West, the investigation remains ongoing and no additional information has been released.
Beverley played 12 NBA seasons and appeared in 666 regular-season games.
He last played in the league in 2023-24 before finishing the season with Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.
