The New Orleans Pelicans will look to bounce back this season after last season’s struggles as they finished with the second-worst record in the Western Conference.

Of course, most of the Pelicans’ struggles last season came due to almost everyone on their roster missing significant time due to injuries.

Now with almost everyone healthy, they will look to turn things around behind their core led by Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, Herbert Jones and Dejounte Murray, once he returns from injury.

New Orleans also made some key additions to their roster this offseason with the biggest being the trade that landed them Jordan Poole from the Washington Wizards in exchange for C.J. McCollum.

For Poole, he is set to enter the new season with his third different team after previous stints with the Golden State Warriors and Wizards and he will also be reunited with one his former Warriors teammates in Kevon Looney, who the Pelicans signed in free agency.

Jordan Poole Makes Statement on Reunion With Kevon Looney

On Tuesday, Poole made a clear statement regarding his excitement for reuniting with Looney on the Pelicans while also taking a shot at the Wizards.

"I’m super exited, man. I haven’t had a good screen in two years,” Poole said about playing with Looney once again.

Of course, Poole and Looney played with each other during their time in Golden State, which lasted four seasons before the Warriors traded Poole to the Wizards in 2023.

During their time together in The Bay, both Poole and Looney played large roles for the Warriors as Poole helped them capture a title in 2022 while Looney won three titles in Golden State.

Now the two will reunite in New Orleans where Poole voiced his excitement to receive good screens from Looney, which the veteran big man has been great at over his career.

Despite his excitement, Poole also took a shot at his former team in the Wizards as he noted that he had not received a good screen in two years, which were both in Washington.

Of course, Poole’s time in Washington was a struggle for the franchise as they continued their rebuild, though the 26-year-old guard was able to showcase his talent that the Pelicans were intrigued by this offseason.

Now Poole will head to New Orleans where he should have a large role in their offense as they try to bounce back from last season with Looney also expected to play a key role off the bench.
