Pelicans put league on notice with third straight blowout win

Nobody can slow down the Pelicans right now, let alone stop them.

New Orleans rolled to its third consecutive blowout victory Friday night, triumphing 124-90 over the Jazz. The Pelicans have now won their last three games by a total of 92 points.

According to SB Nation, only 21 teams in the history of the NBA have won three games in a row by 25 or more points. Of those 21, 19 went on to make the playoffs.

The Pelicans wasted no time asserting their dominance tonight, more than doubling their opponent's effort in the first quarter and jumping out to a 35-17 lead at the horn. Utah's 5-4 lead two minutes into the game would be the only one they'd hold all night.

As they've done throughout their run, the Pelicans didn't let up after their fast start. They kept their foot on the accelerator for the rest of the first half, ending up with a 65-38 lead at the break.

When New Orleans went up 60-30 with 3:13 left to play in the half, it marked the first time in franchise history that they led by 30 or more points in three straight games.

The Pelicans eased off a bit in the second half, but still ended up outscoring the Jazz in all four quarters and winning the game by 34.

Brandon Ingram led all scorers with 29 points while also logging eight rebounds and six assists. He's scored 19, 33 and 29 over New Orleans' last three games. CJ McCollum added 24 points and Willy Hernangomez had 13 points and eight rebounds.

Donovan Mitchell led Utah with 14 points, while Rudy Gobert had 10 points and 11 rebounds. In total, 15 players logged minutes for the Jazz.
