The Philadelphia 76ers could be without one of their reliable bench players next season, as they’re expected to part ways with Guerschon Yabusele because of the team’s financial constraints.

Yabusele signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers last summer after showing out in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The burly Frenchman will hit unrestricted free agency and could join another team once his contract expires.

“With a trio of Sixers veterans — Kelly Oubre Jr., Andre Drummond and Eric Gordon — all expected to soon activate the player options in their respective contracts for next season, it looks as though it will be increasingly challenging for Philadelphia to re-sign beloved big man Guerschon Yabusele,” Jake Fischer and Marc Stein reported on The Stein Line.

“The former first-round pick from France, who played last season on a minimum deal, is projected to have a strong market in free agency,” they added.

Philadelphia 76ers plan to run it back with star trio

The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off a forgettable 2024-25 campaign, finishing with a 24-58 record, good for 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Tyrese Maxey , Joel Embiid, and Paul George didn’t play enough games together due to injuries, and for this reason, the Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly keen to give the trio another shot.

“By simply staying at No. 3, Philadelphia would introduce an $11.1 million salary onto its books for 2025-26,” Stein and Fischer wrote on The Stein Line. “So the Sixers expect to operate near (or maybe even above) the second apron for this upcoming campaign, sources say, as they prepare to give Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey another shot to try to contend for a championship after they managed to appear in just 15 games (7-8) together this season.”
