While the win was welcome, the Philadelphia 76ers also suffered a major setback as one of their key players picked up another injury in their last match against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday.

Though the Sixers won 109-97 against the Bulls, this injury might put a major dent in their aspirations for this season.

Paul George had to exit the game against the Bulls after appearing to injure his left pinky finger. The injury occurred in the second quarter after he had played just 13 minutes, putting up 9 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist before ending up on the sidelines.

It is believed that George underwent an MRI on Sunday to assess the extent of the injury but heading into the 76ers' game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the situation remains uncertain.

According to Keith Pompey, George didn’t practice on Monday and will miss the game against the Lakers. His MRI and ultrasound are being reviewed.

The injury adds to a series of setbacks for both George and the Sixers this season. The team had high expectations after signing him in the offseason but the injuries to key players like him and Joel Embiid have severely impacted their campaign.

George has dealt with multiple injuries this season, causing him to miss plenty of games. And even when he has played, he has struggled to meet expectations as he struggles to find his rhythm in Philly.

George is averaging 17.1 points per game, a noticeable drop from his 22.6 PPG with the Los Angeles Clippers last season. His efficiency has dipped as well. Although he has contributed more in other areas, averaging 5.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

The Sixers are currently in the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference, keeping their playoff hopes alive. However, with several key players sidelined, they remain far from full strength.

With a series of tough games ahead and numerous injuries hindering their rotation, the Sixers have an uphill task of securing a playoff spot in the competitive Eastern Conference. It remains to be seen if they can rally and overcome their injury woes to stay in contention as the season unfolds.
