The Phoenix Suns traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets on Sunday. In return, the Suns acquired Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick of the 2025 draft and five second-round picks. The Suns are determined to start anew around Devin Booker and move on from their Big 3. However, there is one more player that Phoenix needs to address before the start of the 2025-26 season.
Bradley Beal remains with the Suns and will likely not agree to any trade. Beal is one of the few players around the league with a no-trade clause. Which means the star guard has the option to veto trades if he doesn’t like the team he’s going to. Last season, the organization tried to trade him, but the three-time All-Star wasn’t willing to let go of the clause in his contract.
Following the Durant trade, Suns insider John Gambadoro gave an update on what the franchise has planned for Beal. According to Gambadoro, Phoenix has two options to explore with the star shooting guard. In his recent appearance on “The Kevin O’Connor Show,” the insider explored the options for Beal.
“Bradley Beal is not going to be on this team,” said Gambadoro. “They will either trade him or they will buy him out … I don’t think there’s any scenario where Bradley Beal comes back and plays for the Suns.”

The Athletic’s Doug Haller, Sam Amick, and Kelly Iko doubled down on the Suns’ parting ways with Beal. According to the insiders, the KD trade is unlikely to be the final move for the Arizona-based team.
“[The Durant trade] will likely not be Phoenix’s final move. The Suns are expected to try and part ways with Beal, but his salary (he is owed nearly $111 million over the next two seasons) and contract (he has a no-trade clause) will make that difficult. Phoenix explored moving Beal in February but never came close to making a deal,” The Athletic reported.
Last season for the Phoenix Suns, Beal suited up for only 53 games, averaging 17 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
When the trade happened, Durant was on stage with Kay Adams at the Fanatics Fest in New York City. The news broke out, which left the fans shocked. KD took the chance to talk about it with Adams in front of a live audience.
“[The Suns] wanted me to go,” Durant told Adams. “They got what they wanted, and I got what I wanted. We can move on, and good luck to them going forward. Always remember my time there, but we’re on to something else.”
With the Phoenix Suns, Durant helped the team reach the playoffs twice. However, they didn’t reach any significant achievement throughout their time together. KD averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists.
