Phoenix Suns Have Crystal Clear Plan for 2025 NBA Draft
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Phoenix Suns only got one first-round pick from the Kevin Durant trade with the Houston Rockets. They have put themselves back into a prominent position in the 2025 NBA Draft, but little more than that.

It was undoubtedly disappointing for Suns fans to see the franchise fail to bring back any of their future capital that is still possessed by the Rockets. This will make the 10th overall pick they did recoup even more important.

With the Suns roster needing plenty of help overall, the front office can go in a handful of different directions as to the utilization of the lottery selection. However, reports are indicating there is one clear need that stands out above the rest.

Jake Fischer dropped his latest round of intel today. In that roundup, the Suns' potential draft plans were brought into focus.

Fischer wrote, "The overwhelming sentiment in league circles is that Phoenix continues to target a big man with the 10th pick it now happily holds."

The NBA insider continued, "We've been writing for days now about the Suns' desire to find a starting-level center and generally upgrade their frontcourt ever since they failed to even reach the Play-In Tournament. Phoenix is known to be eager to add to its frontline even after the midseason acquisition of Nick Richards."

Who are the biggest names on the radar for Phoenix? Fischer highlighted two frontcourt stars in particular.

"In the No. 10 range, it remains to be seen which players will be available after Toronto selects at No. 9 ... or the Raptors trade that selection elsewhere," Fischer explained. "Two names I've been told to monitor for the Suns on NBA Draft Eve at No. 10: Maryland's Derik Queen and Michigan's Danny Wolf."

Queen and Wolf can both bolster a depleted frontcourt in the desert. With the pressing need for more talent up front, the Suns look as though they will not pass up a long-term solution via the NBA Draft.
