Phoenix Suns Interested in Adding 4x NBA Champion to the Front Office

After a difficult 2024-25 NBA season, the Phoenix Suns want to move on and make changes in the organization. While the roster is their main concern coming into the offseason, they’re also looking to add another personnel member in the front office. According to reports on Wednesday, the Suns could add ESPN’s Bob Myers to the front office.

Myers is an experienced executive during his time with the Golden State Warriors. He started his career in the front office with the Warriors in 2011 when he was hired as an assistant general manager. It wasn’t long, he was eventually promoted to general manager and made some of the most important moves of the organization’s championship dynasty.

With Golden State, he built a championship team and won the Larry O’Brien trophy four times. Myers was also named Executive of the Year two times.

NBA source Marc Stein stated on Wednesday that the Suns are considering bringing him on board because of his experience. Stein noted that Myers could take James Jones’ job as general manager. Additionally, if team owner Mat Ishbia desires it, the two might collaborate in the front office.

“Precisely the sort of executive hire Ishbia is looking to make — someone to work alongside current lead executive James Jones or outright replace him and take over basketball operations — is not entirely clear,” Stein wrote.

The Suns are also in search of a new head coach after Mike Budenholzer was fired after one season. Lastly, the future of the team’s Big 3 is a concern that the organization will take time to look at over the summer.

The Phoenix Suns stand firm in keeping Devin Booker

After a tumultuous season, the future of Devin Booker with the Phoenix Suns is one of the biggest questions. There have been reports that the Suns could trade away Kevin Durant and make a plan around Bradley Beal and what’s next for his career in Phoenix.

As for Booker, the Suns are willing to keep him and build a contending team around the four-time All-Star. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst confirmed last week that Phoenix is interested in re-signing the veteran star to a new contract extension.

“Booker remains so as he finishes the first season of a four-year, $220 million extension. Booker is eligible to sign a two-year, $149.8 million extension this summer, which Phoenix is expected to offer, sources said,” reported ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “In his first season under Budenholzer, Booker averaged a career-high 37.3 minutes, 25.6 points — his lowest since 2018 — and shot a career-low 33% from 3.”

Booker is still under contract with the Phoenix Suns and has three years left in his four-year, $220 million deal.
