It has been a busy offseason for the Phoenix Suns as they have made major changes to their roster, which was expected after they missed the playoffs last season.
Phoenix began their offseason by trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets and they then bought out Bradley Beal’s contract on Wednesday, officially ending the big three era, though it was a major letdown compared to the expectations brought upon them.
Now the Suns will look to become championship contenders once again with Devin Booker leading the way and they have also made other changes to their roster this summer.
Of course, they acquired Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks in the Durant trade, added Mark Williams from the Charlotte Hornets and selected Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea in the 2025 draft.
While the Suns have been busy making moves, more could be coming throughout the rest of the offseason as they are trying to retool their roster around Booker.
Phoenix has been linked to many players in free agency, specifically point guards as they currently lack a true point guard on their roster.
Because of this, Bleacher Report’s Timothy Rapp recently named them as a top landing spot for Russell Westbrook in free agency.
“The Suns also have about a million shooting guards but no true point guards, so perhaps Westbrook could be in play in Phoenix,” Rapp wrote.
Rapp did mention that the Detroit Pistons would be a better fit for the former NBA MVP, though the Suns would be a solid option as well.
Westbrook revitalized his career last season with the Denver Nuggets after struggling during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers the prior two seasons.
With Westbrook unlikely to return to Denver, the Suns have become a solid option for him as he should see a large role as he would be one of their only point guards on their roster.
Despite this, the Suns may look elsewhere to upgrade their point guard position or they could stick with the guards they already have.
