As the NBA offseason gets going, there have been multiple star players mentioned in different trade rumors. This has already been one of the more active summers, and free agency hasn't started yet.

One name that could be on the move is star big man Karl-Anthony Towns of the New York Knicks. After New York was eliminated from the postseason, a lot of trade speculation came out about Towns.

New York could likely get a nice trade return for the All-Star big man, and moving him could make some sense. Due to his defensive limitations, Towns may not fit with how the Knicks want to play.

NBA writer Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report put together landing spots for Towns and had the Detroit Pistons as one of them. Detroit adding Towns could help them take that next step in the Eastern Conference.

"Detroit's playoff breakthrough was fun and loaded with encouraging signs. The hard part, though, is the next step, elevating beyond a plucky first-round opponent. To pull that off, the Pistons need a better co-star for Cade Cunningham and someone who can help alleviate their spacing concerns.

"Towns would check both boxes. He's a true difference-maker on the offensive end, and while he has his limitations on defense, the rest of Detroit's roster might have the length, athleticism and energy to cover a lot of those up," Buckley wrote.

By adding a player like Towns to the Pistons roster, Detroit could put him next to star Cade Cunningham. The two could work well together and help solidify the Pistons as a title contender in the Eastern Conference.

In 72 games with the Knicks, Towns averaged 24.2 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 0.7 blocks per game. Towns also shot 42.0 percent from beyond the 3-point line last season.

Detroit took a massive step forward last season and pushed the Knicks in the playoffs. Adding another All-Star talent could be just what they are missing, and help to fully complete the long rebuild.
