The Detroit Pistons will try to keep their season alive on Tuesday night on the road against the New York Knicks in Game 5 of their first round series.

Detroit was unable to defend their home court in Game 3 and 4 as New York was able to win both games to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Of course, Game 4 on Sunday ended with a questionable non-call by the officials on Tim Hardaway Jr.’s go-ahead three-point attempt.

After the game, the officials announced that there should have been a foul called on the play, leaving the Pistons and their fans in disbelief as their season is now on the line on Tuesday night.

Ahead of Tuesday’s crucial game, Detroit made a major announcement regarding the health of one of their key players.

Detroit announced that they have ruled out Isaiah Stewart for Game 5 due to right knee inflammation.

Of course, Stewart suffered a knee injury in Game 1 of the series that caused him to exit the matchup. He has been sidelined ever since and that will continue on Tuesday.

This is a massive blow for the Pistons as Stewart is one of their best defenders and also brings energy and physicality off the bench.

With Stewart sidelined for his fourth consecutive game, Paul Reed is expected to remain in Detroit’s backup center role behind Jalen Duren.

Reed has played well in the series as he is averaging 4.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 71.4% from the field in 11.3 minutes per contest.

While Reed has played well, Detroit will still miss having Stewart on the court, especially in a win-or-go-home scenario on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Despite this, the rest of Detroit’s roster is fully healthy while the Knicks also have a fully healthy roster heading into Game 5.

Fans can catch Game 5 between the Pistons and Knicks on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. EST on TNT.
