The Detroit Pistons are adding veteran wing Caris LeVert on a two-year, $29 million contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal includes no options and runs through the 2026–27 season, reports The Detroit Free Press’ Omari Sankofa II.
Detroit could complete the signing using either cap space or the full mid-level exception, depending on how the front office chooses to operate its books.
LeVert, 29, split last season between the Cavaliers and Hawks after being included in the trade that sent De’Andre Hunter to Cleveland in February. He appeared in 64 games across the two teams, averaging 12.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 24.9 minutes while shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from three.
The move brings LeVert back to Michigan, where he played four years at the University of Michigan before being selected in the first round of the 2016 draft. He’ll also reunite with Pistons head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who coached him for two-plus seasons in Cleveland.
LeVert is expected to slot into a key bench role behind starting guards Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, while also offering lineup flexibility at small forward. Known for his shot creation and playmaking, he gives Detroit a scoring threat off the dribble and a steady veteran presence for a young roster.
The signing comes shortly after the Pistons pivoted from pursuing Malik Beasley, who is facing gambling-related allegations. LeVert had been linked to Detroit in recent days Hoops Wire sources and was reportedly one of the team’s top wing targets.
