The Golden State Warriors remain on pause with their roster construction due to Jonathan Kuminga’s contract stalemate.
Once resolved, the Warriors will sign players who have been waiting on the Jonathan Kuminga domino effect.
ESPN insider Anthony Slater recently revealed that team veterans like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green aren’t panicking while waiting for roster additions.
The veteran leadership understands the plan and remains confident about their championship potential.
The Warriors’ calm approach stems from knowing their post-Kuminga roster construction.
Slater specifically mentioned that Al Horford will become their starting center, which provides important stability for the veteran core.
“I would describe the veterans as calm and confident. Calm because they know the roster that coming after Kuminga domino, Al Horford will be their starting center, that is important to them,” Slater explained.
The 38-year-old Horford still provides the floor spacing Golden State needs, shooting 36.3% from three-point range last season.
His veteran presence and championship experience align with the Warriors’ title aspirations.
“And confidence because Jimmy Butler apparently worked out really well this summer. Steph Curry is healthy. They think they can be good this season,” Slater added.
The message from Jonathan Kuminga and his agent Aaron Turner to the Warriors this week: Flip the team option to a player option and Kuminga will sign deal and buy-in to mission of getting Steph Curry another title.

Other reported additions include former Warriors De’Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II, with Seth Curry potentially joining his brother Stephen.
These signings would create substantial veteran depth around the core.
If all targeted players join, the Warriors could field a starting lineup of Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Al Horford.
Starting Lineup | Second Unit |
Stephen Curry | De’Anthony Melton |
Brandin Podziemski | Buddy Hield |
Jimmy Butler | Moses Moody |
Draymond Green | Gary Payton II |
Al Horford | Quentin Post |
The roster would feature championship-caliber veterans, experienced role players, and developing young talent.
The Western Conference remains loaded with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets as favorites.
However, the Warriors could emerge as legitimate contenders if their roster construction works according to plan, even without Kuminga’s contribution.
