You'd be hard-pressed finding as intense of a rivalry in the 21st century than the one between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics - namely, in the early 2010s. Miami's patented "Big Three" of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were consistently pitted against Boston's core of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen.

After a hard-fought 2012 Eastern Conference Finals that saw the Heat emerge victorious in seven games, however, Allen shocked the NBA world with his next decision: he flipped sides. The sharpshooter signed with Miami for the 2012-13 season, leaving his Boston teammates in the dust as he won the second championship for his career suiting up for the Heat.

Now, over a decade later, tensions have finally begun to simmer down between the former sworn enemies. Rondo and Wade appeared together on the latter's Wy Network podcast, and the Heat legend appeared to ruffle some feathers by asking his guest's thoughts on Allen's stunning departure.

Rondo, however, said he wasn't as fazed by the decision as some of his Celtics teammates. The way he saw it, Allen leaving was just another chess piece moving in the ever-lasting battle between the two Eastern Conference powerhouses.

"It was the Celtics and it was the Heat, and there was smoke every time we saw each other," he said. "We're at war, that's the mindset. We're at war, and then one of our troops ups and joins the opp. How would you feel?"

Rondo later clarified that he had no hard feelings towards Allen's departure, going as far to clarify an old report that he snubbed his former teammate from the guest list at a Boston championship reunion.

"He made his own decision - that's my guy," Rondo said. "There was a rumor that I didn't invite him to the reunion. For one, I've always operated, I always talk to my big homies, so it wasn't like it was my decision to say something or go about it as, 'He's not invited...' But I got the message from them [my teammates]. I was just the guy organizing it."

Wade went on to say he understood the Celtics' sentiments, noting that he would've been "hot" if James or Bosh had left Miami to join Boston. Nevertheless, it appears that time has healed the wounds between the two rival squads - at least on Wade and Rondo's ends.
