Raptors Call Up Recently Acquired Prospect From 905
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Kira Lewis Jr. is coming back up.

After a one-game stint with the Raptors 905 this week, the Toronto Raptors have opted to have Lewis rejoin the team ahead of Toronto’s homestand this week, the 905 announced.

Lewis should spend much of next week and potentially the remainder of the season going up and down between the 905 and the Raptors as Toronto looks to get the 22-year-old as much playing time as possible through the rest of the year.

The 6-foot-1 guard mustered just four points in his 905 debut Saturday, shooting 2-for-14 from the field and 0-for-5 from three-point range. He had five rebounds and three assists but turned the ball over three times in 33 minutes.

Lewis was essentially a throw-in to make the salaries match in the Pascal Siakam trade. He joined Toronto from New Orleans who was looking to dip below the luxury tax threshold by offloading Lewis.

The former Alabama standout is on a $5.7 million expiring contract this year and is unlikely to be retained by Toronto unless he breaks out during the second half of the year. So far this season, he’s averaging just 2.9 points in 15 games with the Pelicans.

The 905 will play five straight home games prior to Feb. 3. That should give Lewis and potentially Gradey Dick an opportunity to get extra work in both at the G League level and with Toronto.

Lewis may see more playing time following the Feb. 8 trade deadline if Toronto continues to offload roation players over the next few weeks.
