The Toronto Raptors are adding some guard depth ahead of training camp.
Second-year player Malachi Smith has agreed to a deal with the Raptors, the team announced on Monday.
Smith, 26, went undrafted last year and began his NBA journey on an Exhibit 10 contract with the Portland Trail Blazers. He was eventually waived and ended up on the Brooklyn Nets, whom he’d signed an Exhibit 10 deal with before joining the organization’s G League affiliate for most of the 2025-26 season. Smith eventually earned himself a pair of 10-day contracts with the Nets, however, and eventually signed a two-year non-guaranteed deal in April.
The guard made 15 NBA appearances as a rookie, averaging 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 23.9 minutes while shooting 43.5 per cent from beyond the arc on 3.1 attempts per game. At the G League level, he averaged 14.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 42.2 per cent from distance on 3.0 attempts over 39 games.
One of his NBA games came against the Raptors in April, when Smith put up eight points, five rebounds and six assists in 35 minutes while shooting 3-of-9 from the field and 2-of-6 from deep.
Brooklyn waived Smith in July, opening the door for him to sign with Toronto.

Spent last season in the Brooklyn Nets organization. I *assume* it’s an exhibit 10 deal for training camp. pic.twitter.com/g5gC1cgc0A
While terms of the deal haven’t been announced, per team policy, an Exhibit 10 deal with the Raptors ahead of training camp next month would be a reasonable assumption. He’d join Andre Jackson Jr. and Nate Bittle on Exhibit 10 deals with the Raptors that have been announced. Michigan’s Nimari Burnett was also reported to have agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with Toronto, but there’s yet to be official word from the team on the signing.
As for two-way spots, those are currently being occupied by Trey Jemison III, Chucky Hepburn and 2026 second-round pick Jaden Bradley.
With four Exhibit 10s (assuming Burnett is in the mix), three two-way players and a full 15-player roster, the Raptors have one remaining spot they can optionally fill ahead of camp.
