Rumors continue to surface regarding a potential trade involving Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis, but a new report suggests there is not much to it.
Sabonis was linked to the Toronto Raptors this week, but according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Kings have shown no willingness to move him. Siegel says the rumors have been “blown out of proportion,” and for now, the Kings’ focus is on building around their current core.
There are some questions about Sabonis’ long-term future with the organization, as he wants clarity on the direction the Kings are going in. However, he is not pushing for a trade right now, nor are the Kings shopping him.
Sabonis would be coveted if he did hit the market. Despite the Kings’ tumultuous season, he still averaged 19.1 points and 13.9 rebounds per game for Sacramento, and only just turned 29 in May. He is also signed through the 2027-28 season, so the Kings can build around him long-term if they want to.
Earlier reports suggested Sabonis’ situation could change next season if the Kings play poorly or do not appear to have a clear plan for the organization moving forward. That may still be the case, but it would be a surprise if anyone landed him this summer.
