Report: Growing Belief Around the League Suggests Ja Morant’s Future in Memphis Could be in Serious Doubt

Even in an injury-shortened season where he appeared in only 20 games, Morant averaged 19.5 points and 8.1 assists. On top of that, he also continued to pressure defenses with elite downhill attacking ability.

Grizzlies Have One Team Trading For Ja Morant 

The Miami Heat may finally be preparing to make the kind of blockbuster move that might reshape the direction of the franchise, and Ja Morant is quickly emerging as a serious possibility.

After another disappointing season that ended without a top-six playoff seed, Miami appears increasingly motivated to chase star-level talent. While much of the attention has centered around Giannis Antetokounmpo, Sports Illustrated’s Amir Motameni recently proposed trading for the Grizzlies superstar.

In the proposed deal, the Heat would send Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell to Memphis in exchange for Morant.

“This is a move that would shake up both franchises,” Motameni wrote. “Ja Morant was once expected to possibly be the face of the NBA. If he could return anywhere near that status, this would be a huge steal for the Miami Heat.”

The idea comes at a time when Morant’s future with the Grizzlies appears increasingly uncertain. Memphis is reportedly entering a rebuild phase after already moving several key pieces over the past year, and league belief is growing that the Murray State alum could be traded this summer.
