From what one of the top NBA analysts has mentioned, Ja Morant’s future with the Memphis Grizzlies may finally be nearing an end. The player who has equally been in the news for his plays as his off-court issues will soon shift to a new city.
According to a report from NBA insider Evan Sidery, league belief is strengthening that Memphis could move Morant within the next month. This move would come as the franchise continues shifting toward a full-scale rebuild.
“The relationship between the Grizzlies and Ja Morant hasn’t been repaired, and a trade will occur within the next month,” Sidery tweeted. “Memphis will be selling off Morant this summer at his lowest possible value, similarly to what the Hawks also did mid-season with Trae Young.

However, as he mentioned, the relationship between the former All-Star guard and the organization reportedly has not fully recovered. As per the insider’s reporting, executives around the league are now viewing a summer trade as increasingly realistic.
The Grizzlies have already begun reshaping the roster after moving on from Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr., while stockpiling draft capital ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft. Memphis currently holds the No. 3, No. 16, and No. 32 picks, and it has the options to prepare for a long-term reset.
Though the two-time NBA All-Star remains the biggest question mark. When healthy, the 26-year-old is still one of the NBA’s most explosive creators. Even in an injury-shortened season where he appeared in only 20 games, Morant averaged 19.5 points and 8.1 assists. On top of that, he also continued to pressure defenses with elite downhill attacking ability.
The Miami Heat may finally be preparing to make the kind of blockbuster move that might reshape the direction of the franchise, and Ja Morant is quickly emerging as a serious possibility.
After another disappointing season that ended without a top-six playoff seed, Miami appears increasingly motivated to chase star-level talent. While much of the attention has centered around Giannis Antetokounmpo, Sports Illustrated’s Amir Motameni recently proposed trading for the Grizzlies superstar.
In the proposed deal, the Heat would send Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell to Memphis in exchange for Morant.
“This is a move that would shake up both franchises,” Motameni wrote. “Ja Morant was once expected to possibly be the face of the NBA. If he could return anywhere near that status, this would be a huge steal for the Miami Heat.”

The idea comes at a time when Morant’s future with the Grizzlies appears increasingly uncertain. Memphis is reportedly entering a rebuild phase after already moving several key pieces over the past year, and league belief is growing that the Murray State alum could be traded this summer.
