The Hawks have already begun their quest to add talent this offseason.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Atlanta is finalizing a trade to acquire guard Aaron Wiggins from the Thunder in exchange for two second-round picks.

Per Charania, Oklahoma City will receive Atlanta’s 2030 second-round selection and the less favorable of the Hawks’ or Lakers’ second-round pick in 2032.

Wiggins, 27, spent the past five seasons with the Thunder and developed into a valuable rotation player on one of the NBA’s deepest rosters.

He averaged 9.4 points in 65 games this past season, making 21 starts. During Oklahoma City’s championship run in 2025, Wiggins averaged 12.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in the regular season while carving out an important role off the bench.

For the Hawks, the move continues an interesting trend.

Atlanta has spent much of the past year targeting players who appeared ready for larger opportunities. Nickeil Alexander-Walker arrived and flourished. Jonathan Kuminga was acquired from Golden State seeking a bigger role. Now comes Wiggins, who often found himself competing for minutes on a loaded Thunder roster.

The deal also comes on the heels of Atlanta’s decision to sign veteran guard CJ McCollum to a one-year extension.

Meanwhile, the Thunder gain additional draft assets while continuing to reshape a roster that is expected to remain among the league’s championship contenders.

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the move also significantly reduces Oklahoma City’s projected luxury-tax bill.

Atlanta owns the No. 8 and No. 23 picks in this week’s draft, while Oklahoma City enters draft week with selections at Nos. 12 and 17.
