The Cleveland Cavaliers kicked off their playoff journey with an impressive first-round victory over the Toronto Raptors, winning the series in seven thrilling games. However, they’re now facing a tougher battle in the conference semifinals against the Detroit Pistons, and recent updates on James Harden, who recently bumped into Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic, have raised serious concerns.

Game 1 was packed with intense moments, especially a fiery exchange between Harden and Duncan Robinson. Unfortunately for the Cavs, they stumbled out of the gate, losing Game 1 with a final score of 101-111. Despite hopes of a turnaround in Game 2, the results remained disappointing, as they fell short once again. To make matters worse, reports surfaced after Game 2 indicating that Harden may have suffered an injury.

“He was having an extended conversation with one of the Cavs trainers and he kept his left hand in his jacket pocket so that nobody could see it… It sounded like there was an ice bag on his left hand,” Via Chris Fedor.

While there hasn’t been an official injury report on his hand, Harden’s behavior after the game suggests a possible new issue.

Udonis Haslem Goes Off on James Harden

In Game 2, James Harden hit a rough patch, finishing with just 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting, including a mere 2 points in the second half. According to ESPN Insights, this marked Harden’s 20th playoff game in which he shot 25% or less (with at least 10 field goal attempts), breaking a tie with Bob Cousy for the most such games in the shot-clock era (since 1954-55).

The disappointing performance has drawn sharp criticism, with Udonis Haslem taking a shot at Harden during a recent appearance on NBA on Prime.

“There is 5 guys who have been in the NBA that have went to the playoffs 17+ consecutive times. Stockton, Malone, Jason Kidd, Tony Parker, James Harden. Why the hell are you turning the ball over so much? You have been in the playoffs and know what it’s like to be in the playoffs. Why the hell are you turning the ball over? It’s so self inflicted wounds. One handed passes. Things that I would take my son out the game for if I was coaching him for throwing passes like that. Why are you having these kind of passes and plays in the 2nd round of the playoffs? I don’t understand that,” Haslem said.

The Cavaliers are currently 0-2 in the conference semifinals series against the Pistons, and any further loss would affect their chances of coming back in the series. Game 3 will tip off at 3 PM EDT on 9th May at Rocket Arena.
