Report: Jrue Holiday ‘Pissed’ Celtics Traded Him To Trail Blazers

According to NBA insider Steve Bulpett of Heavy Sports, Jrue Holiday is “pissed” the Boston Celtics traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Celtics traded Holiday to the Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons, a 2030 New York Knicks second-round pick and a 2031 Trail Blazers second-round pick.

“Now, if he winds up staying there, I’m sure he’ll be the professional he’s always been and make a positive contribution,” a source told Bulpett. “But he’s not happy with this deal. I’ll be surprised if Portland doesn’t move him on if they can, because right now he does not want to go there.

“I’m sure if he has to go to Portland, he’ll end up going and it’ll be OK, but right now they want to be somewhere else. But with that contract, it’s not going to be that easy.”

Holiday appeared in 62 games for the Celtics this season. He averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 44.3% from the field, 35.3% from beyond the arc and 90.9% from the free-throw line.

In the 2025 postseason, Holiday averaged 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists in seven games against the Orlando Magic and Knicks.

The Celtics lost to the Knicks in the conference semifinals in six games.

Holiday, who will make $34.4 million next season, has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, New Orleans Pelicans, Milwaukee Bucks and Celtics. The UCLA product and two-time NBA champion has career averages of 15.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists.

Boston acquired Holiday from the Trail Blazers in 2023. The Bucks traded Holiday to the Trail Blazers in the blockbuster Damian Lillard trade.

Holiday helped the Celtics win the 2024 championship against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Trail Blazers haven’t made the playoffs since 2021. They went 36-46 this season.

The odds of Holiday causing a circus in Portland are very, very low. He’s the ultimate professional.

However, don’t be surprised if Holiday doesn’t get traded again.
