A three-team trade has gone down in the NBA. ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, and Brooklyn Nets have agreed on a deal with Kristaps Porzingis and Terance Mann being the two main players involved. Porzingis will make his way to Atlanta, while Mann is now a member of the Nets.

“BREAKING: Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta’s No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics,” Charania said via X.

In a trade where multiple draft picks are exchanged, Brooklyn wound up being the only team to acquire a first-rounder. On3’s James Fletcher put together a final mock draft before Wednesday night’s 2025 NBA Draft, projecting Colorado State‘s Nique Clifford at No. 22 overall. Looking big picture, this gives the Nets five selections in the first round.

As for Porzingis, he is not too far removed from winning an NBA Championship with the Celtics. He followed it up by playing in 42 games this past season, averaging 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Solid production but moving off Porzingis seemingly helped the team out financially. Boston also might be in for a weirder season after star player Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles in the playoffs, expected to miss all of 2025-2026.

Moving over to Mann, he can now be considered a veteran. His career began in Los Angeles with the Clippers but moved over to Atlanta in the midst of this past season. Now, another trade has gone down with him involved for the third team of his time in the NBA.

Niang is maybe the lesser-discussed name in this trade. His numbers are not too eye-popping, going for 9.9 points every time out there. However, it’s possibly a nice piece for the Celtics that they can use moving forward. As mentioned, roster reconstruction and the Tatum injury bring a different approach for Boston in the short term.

This might be just the beginning of some madness in the NBA in the coming day or two. Off-court movements take place nearly 24/7, 365 — being part of the league’s beauty. However, things really begin to ramp up once the NBA Draft gets closer. Trades can start flying out of nowhere as teams look for creative ways to build solid rosters moving forward.
