According to Anthony Irwin of ClutchPoints, the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz have talked about a trade involving Rui Hachimura and John Collins

The Lakers are interested in trading for Collins.

“Sources close to the Los Angeles Lakers say that internally, they have long been fans of John Collins, who has the ability to stretch the floor both as a deep threat or someone who can finish well above the rim,” Irwin wrote. “Many within the Lakers organization believe Collins would be an especially great fit alongside Luka Doncic.

“Since their season ended, they’ve held a few conversations with the Utah Jazz to try to land the 27-year-old big man, with Rui Hachimura often the centerpiece of the deal.”

Collins has a player option worth $26.6 million for next season, while Hachimura will make $18.3 million in the final year of his deal.

The Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games, while the Jazz had the worst record in the West.

Collins played in 40 games for the Jazz this season. He averaged 19.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 52.7% from the field, 39.9% from beyond the arc and 84.8% from the free-throw line.

Meanwhile, Hachimura appeared in 59 games for the Lakers in 2024-25. He averaged 13.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 50.9% overall, 41.3% from 3 and 77.0% from the foul line.
