Report: NBA could finish season at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando

Florida may become a safe haven for professional sports in North America as the United States continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday evening, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported the NBA may have found a home to conclude its 2019-20 season that was halted on March 11 due to the virus outbreak:

Charania's story comes roughly two weeks after Kevin Smith of Yahoo Sports named Walt Disney World an ideal spot for the Association during its hour of need. The venue has the necessary lodging and facilities that would allow players and team personnel to prepare for and complete games while remaining quarantined from the outside world.

This plan also includes all the obstacles attributed to other ideas suggested for an altered season. The NBA and National Basketball Players Association must both agree to terms regarding training, what happens if a player or multiple players test positive for coronavirus and if family members, specifically spouses and children, would be allowed to join players during the process.

Earlier this month, Florida deemed World Wrestling Entertainment an essential business so the promotion could continue producing weekly content in the state. A televised golf match featuring Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning is scheduled to take place in Florida around Memorial Day.
