Report: Nets HC Steve Nash unlikely to be fired

The Brooklyn Nets are one loss away from joining the Los Angeles Lakers as arguably the two biggest failures in the NBA this season. While the Lakers didn't even make the Play-In Tournament, the Nets were able to make the Eastern Conference playoffs as the No. 7 seed by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in their first Play-In contest.

However, Brooklyn has had serious trouble against the second-seeded Boston Celtics over the past week and now trail their best-of-seven series 3-0. Game 4 is at 7 p.m. ET on Monday and even if the Nets were to get swept, head coach Steve Nash's job probably isn't on the line, according to NBA correspondent Marc Stein.

Nash is in his second season as Brooklyn's head coach and despite boasting talents such as Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons on their roster during Nash's short tenure, the Nets are on the verge of postseason elimination before the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year.

Of course, Durant has been troubled by injuries -- being limited to 90 games in the last two years -- Harden forced his way out of town via a trade in February, Irving was ineligible for most of the team's home games this season due to his refusal to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and Simmons has yet to play a contest with his new team since being acquired in the Harden trade.
