Report: Pelicans Open To Trading Everyone On Roster

New head of basketball operations Joe Dumars is apparently willing to get a fresh start with the New Orleans Pelicans. As in, very fresh.

More specifically, the Pelicans don’t have any untouchables on the roster when it comes to trade talks, per Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports.

If that’s the case, the list of people who could be on the move includes Zion Williamson, Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum … you name it.

“There are no untouchables in New Orleans,” O’Connor wrote. “League sources say the Pelicans are gauging the market for everyone on their roster. They very well could end up keeping their core pieces, namely Zion Williamson, but it appears the Pelicans are looking into taking different paths this summer depending on what opportunities become available.”

So, yes, the Pelicans very well could keep their main men as well. And that may not be so bad. It would be interesting to see if Williamson, Murray, McCollum and the rest could do if they actually get and stay relatively healthy for an entire season.

With Williamson, though, that’s always an issue. It’s hard to build around a player, as fantastic as he is, when he simply cannot stay on the floor.

That said, Dumars is expected to keep coach Willie Green. Everyone else? Well that seems to be very much up in the air.

New Orleans is coming off an injury-decimated 21-61 season, which led to the firing of former executive VP of basketball operations David Griffin. The Pelicans own the No. 7 overall pick in next month’s NBA Draft.
