According to Grant Afseth of RG, the Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks are interested in Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner.
Turner becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
“Turner will enter the upcoming offseason as an unrestricted free agent after completing a two-year, $40.9 million fully guaranteed contract with the Pacers,” Afseth wrote. “He earned $19.9 million in 2024-25, the final year of that extension. As it stands, there is mutual interest between Turner and Indiana on a new contract, sources tell RG, but his impact will command a market of interested suitors.
“The Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks are among the teams interested in Turner ahead of free agency, sources tell RG, as both teams look to bolster their frontcourts.”
Turner appeared in 72 games for the Pacers during the regular season. He averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.0 blocks while shooting 48.1% from the field, 39.6% from beyond the arc and 77.3% from the free-throw line.
A two-time blocks champion, Turner has career averages of 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 2.2 blocks. He has spent his entire career with the Pacers, who are tied 1-1 with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Pacers are “hoping” to re-sign Turner without sacrificing their depth.
“Rival teams remain skeptical at this point, having for generations seen the Pacers make decisions to avoid the tax penalty, as they monitor the Turner situation. But internally the Pacers are hoping to be able to keep Turner without sacrificing their outstanding depth,” Windhorst wrote.
The Hawks missed the playoffs this year, while the Pistons lost to the New York Knicks in the first round in six games.
