According to Grant Afseth of RG.org, the Toronto Raptors’ trade offer for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant could feature RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl and the ninth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The Raptors are not on Durant’s trade wishlist, but they are still interested in trading for the future Hall of Famer.
“Kevin Durant is expected to be traded before the 2025 NBA Draft, and league sources tell RG the Toronto Raptors are among the teams seriously evaluating a deal, despite not being on Durant’s preferred destination list,” Afseth wrote. “It’s a familiar dynamic for Toronto, which took a similar approach in 2018 by acquiring Kawhi Leonard and capitalizing on a one-year window to win an NBA championship.
“League sources say the Raptors have explored a range of trade concepts that could involve a framework including any combination of RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl and the No. 9 overall pick. While nothing appears imminent, there is internal openness to parting with one of Barrett or Quickley in a larger package, and Poeltl could be included depending on the structure. Additionally, Toronto has explored scenarios involving trading down from No. 9, rather than exiting the first round altogether. A clear motivation to make changes is evident.”
The Raptors went 30-52 this season. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2022.
Durant turns 37 in September. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
A top 75 player of all time, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns.
KD won the 2014 MVP Award with the Thunder and back-to-back rings and Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018.
Durant is also a four-time scoring champion.
Along with the Raptors, Durant has been linked to the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs in trade talks.
