According to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the San Antonio Spurs are concerned about how many years Kevin Durant “has left in the tank.”
Robinson reports that the Spurs won’t trade for Durant, who will be traded by the Phoenix Suns soon.
“San Antonio’s not in on KD, a source familiar with the team’s thinking told me. They have concerns about how many years he has left in the tank, and the focus is on building something sustainable around Wemby,” Robinson wrote.
Durant turns 37 in September. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
Phoenix and San Antonio missed the playoffs this year. The Spurs have the second overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
A future Hall of Famer, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He won the 2014 MVP Award with the Thunder and back-to-back titles and Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018
Durant is also a four-time scoring champion.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat or Minnesota Timberwolves could trade for Durant soon.
“Really in the last 24, 48 hours, I’m told the focus of the Suns conversations has been on a few of the teams and here they are: the Houston Rockets, the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves, I’m told,” Charania said on The Pat McAfee Show.
