According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, the Phoenix Suns could trade Kevin Durant to the San Antonio Spurs “right before” the 2025 NBA Draft.

The Suns are expected to trade Durant this offseason and the future Hall of Famer is interested in getting traded to the Spurs.

“The team that I heard last night in speaking to somebody pretty close to the situation with KD is keep your eye on the Spurs,” Gambadoro said. “KD could have some interest in the Spurs.

“That may be a good landing spot for him with (De’Aaron) Fox and (Victor) Wembanyama an up-and-coming team on the rise that has a great defensive anchor on their team and a terrific young player in Stephon Castle.

“I expect that a KD deal would happen right before the draft because you want to include draft capital in the deal. So a KD trade would come up this month, sometime before the draft, probably close to the draft if it’s gonna happen.”

Durant, 36, has one year left on his contract. The superstar will make $54,708,609 next season.

Durant turns 37 in September. The small forward averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

One of the greatest scorers in NBA history, Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. He won two championships and two Finals MVPs with the Warriors but hasn’t gotten back to the NBA Finals since leaving Golden State in 2019.

If the Spurs acquire Durant, they will have a lethal “Big 3” of Durant, De’Aaron Fox and Victor Wembanyama.
