According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, the Phoenix Suns have zero interest in acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns in a potential Kevin Durant trade with the New York Knicks.
Shams Charania of ESPN reported on Thursday that the Knicks made an offer to the Suns for Durant at the NBA trade deadline in February.
Durant was interested in getting traded to the Knicks, but the Suns wound up not trading the future Hall of Famer.
New York acquired Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves before the season started.
In his first season with the Knicks, Towns averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 52.6% from the field, 42.0% from beyond the arc and 82.9% from the free-throw line.
A five-time All-Star, Towns will make $53,142,264 next season and $57,078,728 in 2026-27. He has a player option worth $61,015,192 for the 2027-28 season.
Towns is eligible to sign an extension this offseason that could add another two years to his deal.
The Suns are expected to trade Durant this offseason. He has one year left on his contract.
One of the best players in NBA history, Durant turns 37 in the fall. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from 3 and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
Durant doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract, but he and his camp are working together with the Suns to find a logical landing spot.
