According to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia wants to hire former Golden State Warriors exec Bob Myers.
Myers currently works for ESPN. He signed Kevin Durant in the summer of 2016 while running the Warriors.
“It would be super clear, though, if the Suns could successfully lure Bob Myers back to the front office world,” Stein and Fischer wrote. “You’d struggle to find many league observers who like their chances. Ishbia is said to have maintained a longstanding interest in trying to convince Myers to return to the role in which he presided over four Warriors championships. Can the Suns actually pull that off? There is far more skepticism than belief in the desert air at the moment.”
The Suns had a terrible 2024-25 season. They went 36-46 despite having Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.
Mike Budenholzer was fired as head coach after just one season, the same fate Frank Vogel endured. Vogel was fired in 2024 after being hired in 2023.
Myers won four championships and two Executive of the Year awards with the Warriors. He left the franchise in 2023.
