Report: Timberwolves Won’t Trade Jaden McDaniels To Get Suns’ Kevin Durant

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Minnesota Timberwolves won’t trade Jaden McDaniels to get Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant. 

The Suns will trade Durant before the 2025 NBA Draft. 

Minnesota attempted to trade for Durant at the February NBA trade deadline. 

“In speaking to sources connected to the team and around the league, the Wolves and Suns have been talking again about a Durant deal. But to this point, there is nothing close to happening,” Krawczynski wrote. 

The Timberwolves made the conference finals this year for the second season in a row. Anthony Edwards and Co. lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in five games. 

McDaniels is one of the top two-way players in the NBA. He averaged 12.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists this season while shooting 47.7% from the field, 33.0% from 3 and 81.3% from the foul line. 

“The Wolves are not including Jaden McDaniels in any KD trade talks, per team sources,” Krawczynski wrote. 

Durant turns 37 in September. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

A top 75 player of all time, Durant has one year left on his contract. He has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns.

Durant won the 2014 MVP Award with the Thunder and back-to-back titles and Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018. 

KD is also a four-time scoring champion.  

The eighth leading scorer in NBA history, Durant doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.
