There was tension throughout the series as the Denver Nuggets faced the Minnesota Timberwolves in the playoffs. For the most part, it was Nikola Jokic and Jaden McDaniels at the forefront of the saga. Now that it’s over, things seem to be at peace.
Minnesota’s 110-98 victory sealed a 4-2 series win, also ending Denver’s campaign in the first round. But the final image had nothing to do with the scoreboard, as it was the handshake line, where Nikola Jokic and McDaniels exchanged words in a calm manner.
The respectful interaction came after a physically demanding matchup that had flirted with escalation multiple times in the series.
Tensions had surfaced earlier in the series, most notably in Game 4 when the Nuggets center confronted McDaniels over a late-game bucket. Game 6 also featured another heated moment involving contact and technical fouls, reinforcing how competitive and emotionally charged the series had become.

However, after the final whistle, the duo respectfully shook hands and embraced each other to buzz off any developing rivalry speculation.
Though on the court, the Wolves forward delivered one of the defining performances of the closeout game, finishing with 32 points while playing elite perimeter defense on Jamal Murray.
Alongside Rudy Gobert anchoring the paint, Minnesota’s defensive identity ultimately overwhelmed Denver. Nikola Jokic, despite a strong 28-point, near triple-double outing, couldn’t overcome a sluggish start and the Wolves’ physical pressure.
Just as the Nuggets saw their season come to an abrupt end after a 110-98 Game 6 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Nikola Jokic didn’t shy away from the reality of the moment.
Despite finishing with strong stats, the Joker acknowledged the bigger picture after Denver’s 4-2 first-round exit.
“I mean we just lost in the first round, so I think we are far away,” the three-time MVP said, offering a blunt assessment of the team’s current standing.

The loss marked a disappointing finish for a team that entered the postseason with higher expectations. Denver dropped four of the last five games after taking Game 1, struggling to generate consistent offense. Murray endured a difficult series, shooting inefficiently while being contained by McDaniels.
Minnesota’s physicality proved decisive, dominating the paint and controlling the glass throughout the closeout game. Even without key contributors, the Timberwolves executed with balance and defensive intensity.
