The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to extend the career of one of their veterans.

Back-to-back Western Conference Finalists, the Minnesota Timberwolves are trying their best to keep their team together.

This has involved tying Naz Reid to an extension, and also agreeing a new three-year deal with Julius Randle.

The double-deal places them at risk of losing Nickeil Alexander-Walker. But there is another player they have brought back.

Timberwolves extend Joe Ingles

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed a new one-year extension with veteran Joe Ingles, now 37.

Shams Charania first reported the news and the terms of the agreement.

He wrote: “Free agent forward Joe Ingles intends to sign a one-year, $3.6 million deal to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves.”

This brought a harsh response from New York Knicks star Josh Hart, who put Ingles on blast with a post on X.

Hart wrote: “Man someone tell him to go head and retire already.”

Hart and Ingles have never played a game on the same team, but they were both involved in the same three-team trade in 2022, that saw them both traded to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Ingles was injured at the time which meant the two never lined up on the court together, and Hart left to join the New York Knicks in a trade in 2023.

Hart’s comments were made in jest out of respect for Ingles’ longevity. He is now entering his 12th NBA season.

Joe Ingles’ NBA career path and current role

Ingles just fulfills a veteran role in Minnesota, playing only 19 regular season games in 2024-25 at an average of 6.0 minutes per game.

He did not play at all in the playoffs for the Timberwolves this past season, despite their run to the conference finals.
