Former NBA player Robert Horry left a phenomenal legacy after his 16-year career in the league.
Robert Horry was a lottery pick during the 1992 NBA Draft, but he never became a superstar in the league.
Instead, Horry became one of the best role players of all time by winning seven NBA Championships in his career. He won titles with the Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Rockets.
But what if Horry played in the modern era? Well, if he did, the retired NBA forward would have loved to share the court with two current stars.
Be it Kobe Bryant or Tim Duncan, Horry spent the majority of his NBA career playing with all-time greats.
So, he knows a thing or two about being an excellent role player, and if given a chance in the modern era, he would have picked LeBron James or Tyrese Haliburton.
Horry explained why he wouldn’t want to play with the likes of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Joel Embiid on the ‘Fast Break’ podcast.
“LeBron. I think Steph shoots too damn much. KD looks like he’s temperamental; Embiid’s always hurt. It’d be LeBron or Haliburton,” Horry said.
Horry picking James is a no-brainer, as many in the past have flourished after sharing the court with the 4x NBA MVP. But why Haliburton?
During the prime of his career, Jason Kidd was the definition of a traditional point guard, as he prioritized playmaking over scoring on the hardwood.
Well, Horry believes Haliburton shares Kidd’s vision and backed his point by praising the Indiana Pacers.
“If you watch how Haliburton plays, he just gets the ball up he reminds me of a skinny J Kidd. He just pushes the ball up the floor, and he gets it to you to score,” Horry continued.
“That Indiana team, they don’t give a s___ who scores, just score,” he concluded.
That mentality is what helped the Pacers reach the 2025 NBA Finals. Unfortunately, the Pacers aren’t viewed as a championship favorite this season because of Haliburton’s injury.
