Rockets In Touch With Jazz On Talen Horton-Tucker Trade
Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets have been in touch with the Utah Jazz about a Talen Horton-Tucker trade, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. Horton-Tucker, who began his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, will make $11 million this season.

The Jazz acquired Horton-Tucker from the Lakers in August 2022. THT appeared in 65 games last season for Utah. He averaged 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 41.9% from the field, 28.6% from beyond the arc and 75.0% from the free-throw line.

Horton-Tucker has career NBA averages of 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 196 games with the Lakers and Jazz. He won the 2020 championship with Los Angeles in the Walt Disney World bubble versus the Miami Heat.

The Jazz went 37-45 last season and missed the playoffs after trading Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. Meanwhile, the Rockets won only 22 games. Houston signed Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks in free agency this offseason. The team is expected to start VanVleet, Jalen Green, Brooks, Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Şengün this season.

The Rockets acquired Victor Oladipo from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Kevin Porter Jr. trade. Houston is not expected to keep Oladipo, who will miss the majority of this season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in his left knee on April 22 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

It’s possible the Rockets could trade Oladipo and draft picks to the Jazz for Horton-Tucker.
