The Houston Rockets continue to surface in Jaylen Brown trade speculation, even as a prominent NBA insider recently said he hasn’t heard much about the team being connected to the Boston Celtics star. During the Wednesday evening broadcast of The Zach Lowe Show, Lowe said Houston has not been a team he has consistently heard linked to Brown.
“Houston, just keeps surprising me that they don’t come up in any of this talk…I’ve heard they’re not super into Jaylen Brown.”
Lowe’s comments differ from reporting by ClutchPoints senior NBA reporter Brett Siegel, who identified the Rockets as one of two teams that have directly engaged the Celtics regarding Brown on Thursday’s edition of Clutch Scoops.

“Teams in particular that we have confirmed have reached out to the Boston Celtics in some capacity are the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Pelicans. I’m sure there’s a much longer list of teams that would have interest in Jaylen Brown. Those are just the two that we can confirm have talked directly with the Celtics about him. Now we’ll see what happens here. I expect this to drag well into Summer League and conversations to be had there where these executives meet face-to-face and team personnel can talk about this.”
Siegel isn’t the only insider who has previously connected Houston to Brown. Earlier this offseason, Mark Stein reported there was a belief around the league that the Rockets, Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers all held legitimate trade interest in the Celtics forward.
“I will say this much…There is a belief in some corners of the league that Atlanta, Houston, and Portland all have legitimate trade interest in Brown. Which is something to file away if you’re looking for participants that might be interested in joining an eventual multi-team Antetokounmpo trade construction.”
Meanwhile, The Athletic’s Jay King reported there is a growing perception around the league that Boston would consider moving Brown for the right return, with New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III emerging as one name connected to those discussions.
“It would be no surprise if Brown stays with the Celtics and continues his highly successful partnership with Jayson Tatum indefinitely. However, there is a growing perception that the organization would consider the idea of trading Brown for the right price. There have been whispers around the league of Boston’s interest in New Orleans Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III.”
During Clutch Scoops, Siegel was bullish on trading a star like Brown for players that can add to depth.
“Sure you add more depth but you’re losing a star that can be your number one when Jayson Tatum is not there and he proved that this year. A true MVP candidate, he was your Finals MVP in 2024 and that’s the most important thing. These guys have already won a championship together within the last two years.”
