The Los Angeles Lakers’ seven-game winning streak ended with a surprising 125-108 defeat to the Phoenix Suns.
Despite fielding their full starting lineup with Luka Doncic leading the offense with 38 points, the Lakers couldn’t maintain their momentum.
Austin Reaves and LeBron James scored 16 and 10 points respectively, while DeAndre Ayton contributed 12 points.
However, starter Rui Hachimura failed to score any points, attempting just one shot during his 23 minutes on the court.
After the loss, Hachimura addressed his invisible performance by criticizing the team’s ball movement, particularly regarding his offensive involvement.
“I don’t remember when I had the ball this whole game. I mean, that’s happened. Playing with these guys, I signed up for that. I understand it,” Hachimura stated.
“But with this, I think the whole team, everyone knows and understands, that’s not how we’re gonna win. Those games that we’ve been winning, we’ve been passing to each other, we’ve been trusting each other and playing for each other to win those games.”

So I want to be the next one to do that, for sure. I met Kobe, I’m playing with LeBron, just as a little kid in Slovenia, I just wanted to play basketball. Just wanted to touch the NBA. And now I’m playing with the best.
Luka Doncic
Hachimura maintained perspective despite his frustration with the offensive distribution.
“So it’s a tough one for me, but it is what it is. It’s one of those games where I gotta just [forget it] and move on to the next game.”
Head coach JJ Redick should take note of Hachimura’s comments, as they highlight a systemic problem with the Lakers’ offensive approach.
The team’s offensive focus centers heavily on Doncic, whose 48.7% usage percentage dominates possessions. LeBron and Reaves register 20% and 21.3% usage rates respectively.
With three ball-dominant players commanding most touches, Hachimura recorded just 1.7% usage and touched the ball only 16 times throughout the entire game.
Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are the 4th duo in 50 years to each record 30+ points in 3 straight games!

While Doncic, Reaves, and LeBron can generate scoring individually, these stars committed 17 turnovers when the Suns successfully pressured them.
Players like Hachimura, Ayton, and role players Jake LaRavia and Dalton Knecht become crucial when opponents successfully limit the Lakers’ star-driven offense.
