The Denver Nuggets are coming off of a season in which they made plenty of waves. Star center Nikola Jokic averaged arguably better statistics than in any of his three seasons in which he won the Most Valuable Player award. They also made noise when they decided to fire head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth right before the NBA Playoffs.

Even with David Adelman as the interim head coach, he helped the Nuggets navigate a seven-game first-round win over the Los Angeles Clippers. In the Western Conference semifinals, they took the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games, but seemed to run out of gas down the stretch.

Russell Westbrook makes personal announcement after offseason move

One key reason for the Nuggets' success in the playoffs was the play of Russell Westbrook. His timely offensive rebounds helped keep the pressure on the Clippers throughout the series. Additionally, he shot 41.9% from 3-point land despite being a career 30.5% shooter from deep.

After Denver's exit from the playoffs, Westbrook decided to decline his player option, making him a free agent this summer.

Following the move, Westbrook made a personal announcement on X, formerly Twitter.

"Thanks for having me, @Cannes_Lions! Honored to join the conversation on behalf of RW Digital," Westbrook posted.

Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a global event for the advertising and communication industries in France. RW Digital is a digital media division under Russell Westbrook Enterprises.

“With RW Digital, my mission is to enable brands to reach multicultural audiences through programmatic data-driven media solutions,” says Westbrook via RW Digital's LinkedIn page. “Current multicultural advertising lacks marketplace knowledge and a deeper understanding of cultural nuances.

"Our platform also partners with brands to drive social impact to important social causes. Empowering underserved communities is my passion. With this venture, I can make an impact on a global scale.”

It remains to be seen which team Westbrook will garner interest from this summer. While he'll turn 37 years old in mid-November, he displayed in the postseason what can make him valuable to a team seeking a deep playoff run.
